We know that exuding wounds are a tough challenge for patients - but also for you. From a survey of 1,500 clinicians around the world eighty percent felt that viscous exudate had an impact on dressing wear time and that wound enlargement or delay to healing were associated challenges7.

Until now, foams have not been able to manage this type of exudate, making the comfort and convenience of these dressings unavailable to many patients who need it most.

Our infographic highlights some more key results relating to clinicians' views on managing viscous wound exudate.

Longer wear time with Mepilex XT

Mepilex XT is proven to have a twenty-six percent longer average wear time than other foams2 meaning that fewer dressing changes are needed. Treating 100 patients with Mepilex XT compared to another foam dressing could equate to eighty fewer dressing changes per week. A study of over 1000 patients showed ninety-eight percent of patients treated with Mepilex XT required fewer dressing changes, compared to only eighty-two percent with other foam dressings2.

When to use Mepilex XT

Mepilex XT is designed to be used on a wide range of exuding healing stages, including sloughy wounds. The Safetac interface helps protect granulating and epithelialising wounds, offering greater comfort and less pain for the patient during dressing changes6.

Mepilex XT is an effective solution for a wide variety of acute and chronic wounds, but particularly leg and foot ulcers. Download our clinical case study: Venous leg Ulcers: Mepilex XT supports healing
